When the swallows come back to Capistrano
That's the day I pray that you'll come back to me

One of bell ringer Acú's most colorful tales was that the swallows (or las golondrinas, as he called them) flew over the Atlantic Ocean to Jerusalem each winter, carrying small twigs on which they could rest atop the water along the way.

Man, what a day to remember.  June 11, 2006. I was off Oregon Inlet, NC when I caught a monster of a fish! A 116lb 8oz Cobia on TUF-Line 50lb test! I didn't know it at the time but when we weighed the fish it broke the existing NC State Record. A little while later someone said it also could be a new World Line Class Record.  After months of testing and verifications it was finally declared a New World Record Line Class for Cobia by the IGFA. This would not have been possible if we were not using TUF-Line! I truly believe it was our savior!!

I would contact Dr. Jim Franks at the Gulf Coast Reseach Lab in Mississippi. They have been doing research on cobia for years. One good stat I have noticed over the years is thatabout 10% of the cobia we tag get recaptured

I believe many fish caught in the panhandle, especially early in the season are resident fish that have over-wintered in deep wrecks and reefs. The east coast has a similar migration where the fish migrate to North Carolina and as far as Virginia and then migrate south towards the keys.Several fish caught on the east coast have been tagged in the gulf,so who knows really what those booggers are doing.Cobia research is on-going and the more we can tag and receive data the better for the fishery.Just my humble opinion.
