f TRAGICAL: -Ou Saturday last. was killed in this city by Wm. H. Grimes.

It appears that the deceased had made threats to take life of Grimes, which, coming to the know ledge the latter, induced him to be on his guard, as ho well knew the violent and desperate character of bis adversary, Verrell approached within about furty paces of Grimes, calling on him to come out with his arms, as he was ready for him. Al that ment, Grimes discharged a gun loaded with buckshot, and Verrell tell dend, one uf the shot having penetrated his head, just behind the right ear. Mr. Grimes forthwith surrendered himself to the civil authorities; and in the afternoon an examina• tion was had before N. L.

Whifeld and W. R. Smith, Esqs., Justices of the Peace, which resulted in his prompt and complete discharge. Tuscaloosa Monitor, 3d inst..
